The Susan Bijl's shopping bag’s original design was based on the silhouette of a generic plastic bag. Susan gave it her own spin by creating a colorful variation, crafted from Ripstop nylon. The same fabric kites are made of, Ripstop is both indestructible and lightweight. The only thing lacking was a signature. After many sketches and prototypes, Susan created the iconic ‘Flash’ – a diagonal stripe that has appeared on every product she’s designed since.
The bags, pouches and raincoats we offer this season are part of the collaborative collection ETNOMANIE by Ellie Uyttenbroek. ETNOMANIE refers to the flourishing interaction and inspiration between different cultures. Style crossovers result in exciting Etnomanian fashion languages and identities. ETNOMANIE for Susan Bijl is a collection that comes in five colors based on skin tones named after former Nobel Peace Prize winners: Wangari, Barack, Malala, Liu and Agnes, and an ETNOMANIE print.
